Aperitivo Hour - All are welcome

Amotillado.png

We all know that Low ABV is a thing now, well what you might not know is that sherry is delicious! It also owns the Low ABV category.

This will be a great insight into old vs new. With talks from Ruairidh ‘Rory’ Muir and our very own sherry geek Simon Rouse. With nibbles to share and sherry to drink.

With that in mind, we wanted to bring you the best in Low ABV and sherry…I give you…

XECO

In early 2016, three 30 something ‘fino feinds’ set out to create a new brand of sherry to put a contemporary edge on an age-old product, and in doing so help to dispel some of the myths around the category and encourage a new generation of discerning drinkers to give sherry a second look.

Lustau

The origins of Emilio Lustau S.A. date back to 1896, when Mr. José Ruiz-Berdejo, a secretary to the Court of Justice, started cultivating the vines of the family’s state, named Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza, in his spare time. In these humble beginnings he made wines which were then sold on to larger Sherry producers. This activity was known as being an almacenista or stockeeper.

In 1931, his daughter, María Ruiz-Berdejo Alberti, acquired a small winery closer to the centre of Jerez de la Frontera and moved there all the preexisting soleras, gaining notoriety and visibility.

Only 20 spaces available for this one so snap them up quick

Sake Cinema

Birth of Sake.jpg

Join us at Koj the “no sushi” Japanese restaurant for a chance to learn everything about sake. We will watch this amazing, cinematic documentary by Birk Shirai.

Through the unrelenting winter in the north of Japan, a small group of workers must brave unusual working conditions to bring to life a 2,000-year-old tradition known as sake. A cinematic documentary, The Birth of Sake is a visually immersive experience of an almost-secret world in which large sacrifices must be made for the survival of a time-honored brew.

We will start you off with a traditional Japanese sake highball cocktail to show you how we use the spirit. Throughout the film we will bring you several types of sake for tasting to best explain this amazing liquid.

This is one we’re very excited for.
